Distributional assumptions in the theory of oligopoly information exchange

Article Abstract:

The introduction of the information sharing component in a modeling of Cournot oligopolist receiving private information on random demand shows that the sharing effects a profit for all parties involved in the information exchange, even if all the parties are involved in the production of the same product. This is due to the equilibrium produced especially if the information sharing behavior is effected quid pro quo. But information sharing produces little profits for participants in the linear-conditional-expectation framework due to the effects of forecasting accuracy.

Objectives, topics and methods in industrial organization during the nineties: results from a survey

The profession also showed an inclination towards small, agile industries as the answer for competitiveness in a global marketplace and that a solid industrial policy is an important aspect of competitiveness.
