Article Abstract:

The 1998 Asian Games has improved the commercial prospects of Thailand's travel industry. Despite the low tourist turnover at the games, industry players believe that western visitors which attended the games will consider a stopover in Thailand on their way to Sydney, Australia, the site of the year 2000 Olympic Games. In preparation for the Olympic Games hotels and airlines such as Thai Airways International have formed alliances with the tournaments' organizers to get a share of the tourist traffic it will generate.
