Driving simulator wins AIP approval

Article Abstract:

FAAC Inc's simulator for drivers of airport ground vehicles has been approved for use by the AIP. The Airport Driving Simulator trains the driver in a wide variety of tasks, including basic driving skills, route familiarization, emergency situation response and radio communications. Drivers can practice on a number of vehicle models, including baggage tugs, fuel trucks, snow-removal equipment and emergency response vehicles.

Raising the profile of cargo

Article Abstract:

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched a program to raise the standards of security for air cargo. The agency has increased the testing of airlines and indirect air carriers for possible violations of shipment handling procedures. FAA is also tightening the standards for known shippers. In addition, the agency is in the process of evaluating a number of screening methods for suspect cargoes.

Safety first as FAA meets oversight standards

Article Abstract:

The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) announced that the FAA complies with safety oversight standards for international aviation in its first audit implemented in 1999. The ICAO concluded that the FAA conforms with international standards in the areas of aviation legislation and regulations, organization, personnel licensing and training and airworthiness.
