OMV's bid fails to sway MOL: tie-up offer comes as pressure grows to fend off Russia

Article Abstract:

Hungarian petroleum company MOL Rt has declined an unsolicited takeover bid from Austria's OMV AG, stating that OMV has significantly undervalued MOL. OMV, which already owns a 20% stake in MOL, had offered $18.31 bil. The deal indicates efforts by eastern and central Europe's gas and oil firms to ward off acquisition attempts by cash-rich Russian firms.
