EU panel starts probe of venture of BT, AT and T

Article Abstract:

A British Telecommunications PLC and AT and T Corp joint venture is the subject of an antitrust investigation by the European Commission. The EU antitrust authority expressed concerns about the companies' market shares in global telecom services to multinationals and carrier services to other telecom operators. Another major concern was BT's dominance or near dominance in some UK services. The possibility that AT and T subsidiary ACC Corp could coordinate activities with BT and Telewest Communications PLC was also a concern.
