Ericsson plans to acquire Internet-related firms

Article Abstract:

Stockholm, Sweden-based telecommunications equipment maker Telefon AB L. M. Ericsson has reported plans to acquire California-based 3Com Corp. and other Internet firms. The Swedish telecom firm has previously made a number of acquisitions of Internet-technology and data networking firms as part of its strategy to compete with rival Cisco Inc.

Mobile, but quite hobbled

Article Abstract:

The article discusses the shakeout in the mobile wireless industry in Europe. Funds of many wireless-technology startups are beginning to get depleted, and investors are reluctant to invest any more money in startups. Many companies are cancelling expansion plans and laying off hundreds of employees.
