Europe delays benefits

Article Abstract:

Eurocontrol, Europe's air transportation safety organization, will extend its reduced vertical separation minima (RVSM) verification program and do away with operational trials. The move is expected by the airline industry to result in a one-year delay in the implementation of RVSM in Europe. According to the airline sector, the delay will be due to the lack of operational which, in turn, will not allow them to reap early cost benefits. Full RVSM implementation is expected by November 2001.
