Game on

Article Abstract:

Labatt Breweries, the new title sponsor of Hockey Night in Canada (HNIC), is faced with the challenge of erasing the image of its rival, Molson Breweries, which has been the title sponsor of the HNIC for almost 50 years, in the minds of consumers. As part of its strategy, Labatt Breweries will roll out four new Labatt Blue spots on HNIC broadcast for the 1998-99 season, which is scheduled to debut on Oct. 10, 1998. Both Labatt and the NHL declined to provide financial details of the deal but sources noted the partnership, which involves broadcast rights to HNIC and a cable deal with CTV SportsNet, involves C$57 million over four years.
