Asian carriers are enlarging airline video screens and broadening the service options to offer more amenities to its customers. Malaysia Airlines, which intends to add more options and improvements in video service, has started to provide viewing from 11-inch TV sets for its business and first-class passengers. Other airlines that include Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific Airways now offer video screens for its economy-class cabins. Korean Air Lines is also improving the technology with its new interactive system that allows people to shop duty-free from video screens.

Asian airlines are vigorously promoting the formulation of standard set of ratings for safety measures in the industry. A US-based consumer rights group gave Asian carriers low ratings and these carriers are debating that the standard used by the group for rating safety is relative and has needlessly caused consumers to shy away from these carriers. The loss of consumer confidence due to these reports have translated to business losses for these airlines.
