Getting to The Point

Article Abstract:

Doncaster Community Arts employed Groundworks Architects to undertake the designs of a renovation project of two Victorian houses and a new extension, to make a facility for young performers and artists in Doncaster. Some 75% of the funds for the work were provided by the National Lottery. The houses were part of a listed parade of buildings therefore the architects had to keep strictly within planning regulations. The Point includes a performance area, meeting rooms, a cafe and workshops. There is a lift for the disabled. The project was managed by art project consultants Uccello Partnership.

Bristol building that whets the appetite

Article Abstract:

An exhibition at the Architecture Centre, Bristol, England, displays the work in progress on the design of Bristol's Harbourside Centre. Behnisch, Behnisch and Partner won the competition to design the centre, which will contain a dance theatre and a concert hall. They believe in the benefits of using 3D models during the design process and models feature strongly in the exhibition, enthusing the visitor about a building which promises to be exhilarating. The accompanying text clearly describes the processes which will be involved in the creation of the building.
