Very real architects

Article Abstract:

Architects David Levitt and David Bernstein formed Levitt Bernstein in 1966 when they began a housing association. They were given the commission to build The Royal Exchange Theatre in mid-1970s. The focus of their work remains social housing which has developed into social planning, such as hospitals and schools. Levitt prefers to work with the backing of client groups, knowing that architectural needs can be full addressed. Bernstein prefers to solve problems by being in on at the concept stage of any commission.

The vision thing

Article Abstract:

It is more interesting to do things, rather than watch, according to architect Peter Bell. He runs a small practice in North London, England, but has also been active as a client through his membership of the MCC, which has had a Media Centre designed by Future Systems constructed at Lord's cricket ground. He now wishes to return to the MCC's estates committee, as he believes that he has vision for future developments at Lord's.

Intellectual property

Article Abstract:

It is important to be aware that the language used to describe our relationship to buildings can become fixed, according to Environmental Governance founder David Cadman. He places strong emphasis on the need for linkages, and also feels that there is a need for design to be more elemental. He feels that the new language which is required to return the UK property industry to sustainable activity will have to be poetic.
