In the dynamic city of the future

Article Abstract:

An art exhibition at the Fondazione Antonio Mazzotta, Milan, Italy, draws out the main themes of the Futurist painters in the years from 1909 to 1944. Sections of the exhibition focus on the Futurists' portrayals of the metropolis and of speed as they developed their interest in dynamism. Another section includes portraits, which were depictions of internal disequilibrium, and another displays the peculiarly Italian genre of aeropittura, which looks at the dynamism of the city from an aerial viewpoint.

Article Abstract:

A number of events are being held in Nancy, France, in 1999 to celebrate L'Ecole de Nancy, the town's version of Art Nouveau. The main exhibition, 'L'Ecole de Nancy 1889-1909,' is being held at the Galeries Poirel. This covers almost 400 items. A smaller exhibition at the Hotel du Department highlights the vital connection between art and industry. The Musee de L'Ecole de Nancy is staging an exhibition entitled 'Fleurs et Ornements.'
