Investment agenda

Article Abstract:

The lack of economic initiatives between Asian and North American countries can account for the concern being felt by Asians over the North American Free Trade Agreement. The US, for one, has no existing economic agreements with Asian countries. An investment agreement among Pacific basin countries could address the need for such economic initiatives. The framework for such an agreement should include both old and new investment issues that directly affect the concerned countries.

Gaining security on its investment

Article Abstract:

The opportunity for fast growth in a niche market attracted equity provider Cinven to manage the buyout of the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency's Secure Support Services Division, DSSD. Newly named Comax in 1997, Cinven provided funds of $119 million to cover liabilities, selling for $138 million shortly after. Both Cinven and Comax benefitted greatly from the insight and forward thinking of the financial strategy.
