Infineon Technology AG posted a decline of 84% in its net income for the fiscal second-quarter ending March 31, 2001. However, analysts had expected the company to post losses because of a major decline in the prices of memory chips.

Siemens plans more job cuts, sale of its stake in Infineon

Siemens AG posted a decline of 11% in its earnings for the 2001 second-quarter. The company will also carry out additional layoffs and sell off a share of its Infineon Technologies AG division to a workers' pension fund.

Infineon swings into the red for fiscal year
