Job sequencing rules for minimizing the expected makespan in flexible machines

Article Abstract:

Job sequencing rules for a deteriorating flexible machine capable of processing a number of diverse jobs with negligible setup times between jobs are developed in such a way as to minimize expected makespan. Various jobs are allowed to contribute to machine deterioration at different failure rates, with these rates not required to remain constant with machine-use time. Results of simulation tests affirm the effectiveness of these job sequencing rules for different cases.

job sequencing rules in industry for better performance of production and to avoid unnecessary operations and make it simple one. so the time of operations can be reduced. hence the productivity can be increased. so the profit of the firm will go high and the total evaluation of the job can be done effectively by the operation manager.

Reacting in real-time to production contingencies in a capacitated flexible cell

Article Abstract:

A PC-based algorithm for the real-time resolution of production contingencies in a flexible, make-to-assemble manufacturing environment produces almost optimmum integer-valued solutions for all problems. Moreover, the algorithm resolves even vast 25-item 30-period problems in only several seconds. Using the algorithm, it should be feasible to assess the cost of each adjustment in real-time and choose if reacting in a batch manner may be more beneficial.

Impact of job-sequence on the down-time of a deteriorating flexible machine

Article Abstract:

Several branch-and-bound algorithms have been developed for evaluating the relationship between job-sequencing and the down-time of a deteriorating flexible machine with a limited tool-magazine capacity. The algorithms were used in three different application scenarios involving a faulty machine. Results indicate that the proposed algorithms are capable of providing real-time support for minimizing machine-down time and optimizing job-sequencing.
