Australia's shipbuilding industry, specifically the high-speed aluminum fast ferry sector, became a competitive force in the international scene by ensuring that it remains at the forefront of technological advances. Builders overcame geographical isolation and virtual obscurity to grow into an industry with A$1.5 billion in annual earnings, prviding jobs to over 6,000 people. Industry players are confident of continuous growth over the next few years because of increasing demand for fast ferries across the globe.

The emerging word, actually: like a raised eyebrow or a shrug, it's not always, y'know, meaningless

Article Abstract:

The word 'actually' means literally 'in reality', or 'in proper fact'. It has transformed into what some language experts call filler words, or verbal tics. Such usage conveys no meaningful information, but rather signals the speaker's perception of fact or mood during the conversation.
