Land & General has a chance to focus, some say

Article Abstract:

Analysts are confident that the value of Land and General Holdings Bhd. shares will improve in the long run despite its poor performance in the Malaysian stock exchange as compared with other blue-chip stocks. The shares dropped by 1% during Nov. 1996, to $2.16 as compared to end-of-1995 price. Analysts, who advice buyers to consider the stock as a long-term investment, attribute the decline to regulatory measures imposed by the Malaysian government during 1995 to stem excessive speculation in the real estate market.

On hold with Hong Kong property stocks

Article Abstract:

Analysts recommend keeping shares in property developer stocks to investors faced with property policy and interest rates uncertainties in Hong Kong. The recent policy speech by Hong Kong's Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa implies that strict antispeculation rules will apply, if property market prices soar high, and will moderate the rules, if property prices are moderated.
