MP3.com settles suits with BMG and Warner Music

The article discusses the groundbreaking settlements MP3.com Inc. reached with two record labels, Warner Music Group and BMG Entertainment. Although terms were not revealed, people knowledgeable about the issue said that MP3.com agreed to pay each company approximately $20 million (Euro21 million) each to settle copyright infringement charges.

Pirated compact discs from Asia are entering the Latin American market at a much higher rate in 1999 than in 1997 as this criminal activity becomes a global enterprise. A major force in this piracy are Chinese organized crime gangs.
