Marketers test their ads on videos

Article Abstract:

Video Airtime Inc., a company based in Toronto, Ontario, have started recruiting companies in Canada to put advertisements on rental videos. The move is part of Video Airtime's effort to persuade the US movie industry involving the practicability of advertising on rental video. Canadian firms that tested rental video advertising include Molson Breweries, which placed its series of "monkey" ads for Molson Canadian on Jackie Brown tapes, and Honda Acura, which placed its ad at the start of 1997's Goodwill Hunting.

Article Abstract:

Video Airtime Inc, a pan-European consortium, is highlighting the benefits of advertising on rental videos to attract the US movie industry. Chris Polley, managing director of Video Airtime, said the Americans are not receptive on advertising on rental videos because of concerns about a consumer backlash and alienating its stars. He added that the initiative gets a positive reaction among agencies.

Media outlets using CDs for branding

Article Abstract:

A growing number of companies in Canada are using CDs to effectively market and promote their products. Country Music Television, for instance, used CDs for its brand awareness program as it attempts to capture the attention of consumers who are not frequent TV watchers. Other companies that have also used CDs for promotion include Maclean's, Chart magazine and MuchMusic.
