Northeast should heed neighbors' example

Article Abstract:

Malaysia and Indonesia have agreed to present their claims on several disputed islands to the International Court of Justice for final adjudication. The agreement marks a significant diplomatic shift in Southeast Asian international politics and may serve as an excellent example of dispute resolution to other Asian nations. Currently, the most serious territorial dispute in Asia revolves around the Spratly Islands which are claimed by the Philippines, China, Vietnam, Taiwan and Malaysia.

Once a recipient, Malaysia to volunteer to serve others

Article Abstract:

Malaysia is creating its own Peace Corps called Yayasan Salam Malaysia. The move is inspired by the spirit of volunteerism demonstrated by the hundreds of young Americans sent to Malaysia during the 1960's under President Kennedy's Peace Corps program. Yayasan Salam Malaysia will be headed by Malaysian Finance Minister Datuk Anwar, a former Peace Corps student, and is intended to flourish within and outside of Malaysia.

Hong Kong is no example for Taiwan

Article Abstract:

Taiwan may be far from following Hong Kong's reunification with China even if the 'one country, two systems' agreement between the two works out. Taiwan is interested in the reunification because of hopes to continue making investments to China through Hong Kong.
