Multicriteria hub decision making for rural area telecommunication networks

Article Abstract:

It has been possible to use a zero-one compromise programming linked with an eigenvalue estimation technique to accommodate the target setting process in the rural telecommunications environment. This integration allows policy makers to interactively compromise while trading off competing goals.

A tabu search algorithm for the optimisation of telecommunication networks

Article Abstract:

A tabu search algorithm proved useful in the topological optimization of broad band communication networks whose structure is based on a single exchange and on a number of multiplexing centers. The TS method performed better as compared to other techniques such as the GA and SA methods. The TS method required less computation times than the SA method, which like the GA method, required a large number of trials on a sinbgle problem with the same parameters setting due to their random search function.

Optimal system design with MC2 linear programming: a dual contingency plan approach

Article Abstract:

The multiple-criteriaand multiple-constraint level (MC2) simplex method was applied in the solution for a system design problem with multiple criteria and multiple resource availability. The method's superiority in the system's design is in its ability to generate options for use in contingency plans, which have been considered optimal solutions based on the changes in parameters. The effectivity of the dual contingency plan generation technique lies in the use of opportunity variables and slack variables present in the good system.
