Parmalat auditor was told of fraud suspicion in 2001: Deloitte Italy was alerted to possible fraud at Bonlat, but failed to take action

Article Abstract:

Investigation has revealed that Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu officials knew of trouble in a unit of dairy concern Parmalat S.p.A. three years before Parmalat collapsed. The alarm was raised over transactions involving Bonlat Financing Corp. which have since been under scrutiny in a fraud investigation.

EU may replace veto to forge foreign policy

Article Abstract:

The European Union is considering eliminating a single country's power to veto a foreign policy initiatives. Such a move could make it much easier to develop a foreign policy. Former French president Valery Giscard D'Estaing has proposed the idea of eliminating the veto.

Italy sets EU goal to mend U.S. rift
