Personality and entrepreneurial leadership: a study of the heads of the UK's most successful independent companies

Article Abstract:

A study looking at the personality traits of successful leaders found that they are not forward thinking risk takers but instead are predominantly unconcerned about what others think of them, are tough, domineering and very ambitious. There are differences between managers and leaders. Managers tend to be sociable, self-disciplined and like order while leaders display fewer of these traits. Similar leadership qualities are displayed in a range of different leadership situations so it seems that it is a transferable skill.
