Pigs might fly at PII

Article Abstract:

British Gas (BG) established Pipeline Integrity International (PII) in the early 1980s as a research division to carry out gas pipeline inspections. PII was eventually sold by BG for 90 million pounds sterling in Feb 1998 to Mercury which is seeking to develop the company's strategic business of pipeline inspection employing magnetic flux leakage technology. Checks are made on pipelines using a magnetic sensitive vehicle known as a pig, which cost about 300,000 pounds sterling each. PII is responsible for 46% of global pipeline inspection work.
