Polish air bases to get radar upgrade

Article Abstract:

Warsaw-based Cenrex has been awarded a contract by the Polish Air Force for the supply of ITT Gilfillan GCA-2000 ground-controlled approach radar systems. The GCA-2000 systems would be installed at the Minsk-Mazowiecki, Powidz and Swidwin air bases. These radars would be integrated with a PIT- developed air base C2 system called Terminal Lotnikowsky TU-20L. The contract is the first under new Polish offset law, which requires all defense contracts worth at least 5 million euros to be compensated by offset packages equal to the value of the deal.

Boeing considers upgrade offers while..

Article Abstract:

Boeing Co and the US Air Force plan to offer upgraded versions of the F- 15A/B aircraft to international customers such as the new NATO allies in Central Europe. The refurbished F-15s, to be called F-15R, would be equipped with Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-220W engines, Raytheon AN/APG-70 radars, avionics and electronic systems. The F-15R can be used as an air superiority fighter, armed with AIM-120 AMRAAMs, or as a multi-role aircraft that can deliver precision-guided bombs.

Czechs unveil NATO-compatible MiG-21MFN

Article Abstract:

The Czech Air Force is upgrading the navigation and communications capability of about eight MiG-21MF Fishbed fighters and at least four Mi17 helicopters to allow them to work in NATO missions. The MiG-21MF Fishbed upgrade includes an AN/APX-100 identification friend or foe transponder, Rockwell Collins DME-42 and ILS VIR-32, and commercial Trimble 2101-Plus GPS receiver. The aircraft will also be equipped with a differential GPS system.
