Area planning officers should be familiar with a site and policies relating to it. England and Wales have a lower approval rate of planning applications than Scotland, although the percentage being decided within eight weeks is similar. A new DoE guide to the TPO system incorporates advice relating to tree-preservation orders with regard to planning applications.
