RUM BRAND IN COURT FOR HURTING THE SPIRIT
Article Abstract:
A complaint has been filed in a court in Alleppey district of Kerala against International Distillers (India) Ltd claiming that the name of its recently launched rum brand, Christian Brothers, hurts religious sentiments. The petitioner has requested the court to ban the distribution of the brand in Kerala. The Christian Brothers brand is one of the 100 top selling spirit brands in the world. The company has introduced brands like Smirnoff, J&B scotch whisky and Bailey's Irish cream in the domestic markets. (khr)

McDOWELL LAUNCHES NEW WHISKY BRAND

McDowell & Co Ltd has launched a medium segment whisky brand named Kerala Malt Whisky, a new entrant into the company's elite millionaire brand category. The brand is distilled ad bottled at the company's Baramati distillery in Pune. It is priced at Rs300- 330 for a bottle of 750 ml. (khr)
