Rally in digital telecom shares is expected to diminish

Article Abstract:

Digital Telecommunications has been enjoying a convincing performance in the Philippine telephone market, as the fixed-line operator recorded marked improvements in its stock value for the early part of 1999. Shares of the company reached the 1.80 peso per share level in June, representing an 80% increase from the previous month. Such a gain is significantly attributed to Digital's consolidation with second-tier operators, which bolstered its market share against Philippine Long Distance Co. Despite these achievements, Digital is still struggling to address problems in the Northern Luzon area.
