Regulation of environmental marketing claims: a comparative perspective

Article Abstract:

Issues in environmental marketing claims and consumer behavior are presented and discussed. Studies show that consumers lack an understanding of the terminology used in green marketing and remain skeptical of such claims, implying a strong support for federal regulation of the industry. There is, therefore, a need for a way to assess such claims from the public's perspective. Environmental marketing practices and regulation in the US and Australia are analyzed.
