Shipper financing evolves, expands, awaiting its boom

Major logistics service providers are diversifying into the area of cutting-edge shipper financing solutions to enhance their comprehensive, seamless, supply chain services to importers. Examples of these trade financing services include Danzas' Cash Forwarding product, where Danzas assumes responsibility for the credit insurance process on a foreign buyer and for order delivery. MSAS Global Logistics has developed TRADE-1, a funding alternative which uses ownership postponement to facilitate third party lending against inventory.

Trans-Pacific shipping during peak season is a phenomena whose spectacular growth shippers and carriers alike have had to address. The shipping industry has not always been able to absorb the annual surge in volume brought about by the highly seasonal trans-Pacific trade, which is the largest global trading lane. One ocean transportation company official noted that if the trend in growing trade volume continues, the peak season might cease to exist as the industry has known it.
