New cycle of interest-rate easing would help boost Asia

Article Abstract:

Investors would like the U.S. Federal Reserve to cut interest rates so that Asian central banks would follow suit and Asian stock markets would have an opportunity to rebound. A discsussion of whether a U.S.-Singapore trade agreement will be signed before Bill Clinton leaves office is also included.

Article Abstract:

Certain numbers are luckier than others to use as telephone numbers, stock codes, list prices, and license plates, in Hong Kong. The number 3 sounds like the word for life, while the number 8 sounds like the word for rich. Some companies pay big bucks to keep their lucky numbers.
