The psychology of steel construction

Article Abstract:

Housebuilders, component manufacturers, house designers and engineers are unable to think laterally about framing materials, according to Cedric Price, who designed a user-modifiable steel housing system in 1971. He believes that psychological factors hamper the introduction of new materials and techniques for a very long time. He regrets the fact that there continues to be strong emphasis on sets of materials in house design and construction, and that few people consider structuring or cladding a house in steel.

The march of future fashions and their bid to rewrite history

Article Abstract:

Armani Exhibition, which was awarded pride of place in New YorkEs Solomon R Guggenheim MuseumEs famous Frank Lloyd Wright spiral gallery, offered valuable clues to the changing relationship between fashion and architecture. The 400 exhibits, although billed as covering the period from 1975 to 2000, actually concentrated almost exclusively in the 1990s, with only a handful of examples from the master's work in the 1980s and the 1970s.
