Glory days

Article Abstract:

Canadian newspapers enjoyed a combined advertising and circulation revenue of C$3.031 billion in 1997, according to the Canadian Newspaper Association in Toronto, Canada. A total of C$2.03 billion, or more than three quarters of the 1997 amount was attributed to advertising. This represented a 17.5% increase over the 1996 total of $1.959 billion. The 1997 figures also reflected the dailies' domination of television as a revenue earner.
