Timing concerns don't deter launch of men's magazine

Vampiranarossa Publishing Group is launching Winners, a luxury lifestyle magazine targeting English-speaking businessmen in Hong Kong. While the publisher is confident in the new magazine, others question the wisdom of launching a magazine during an economic downturn when advertisers are cutting their budgets. The growth of men's magazines in Asia is also discussed.

Smaller markets are attracting big spending from advertisers

Advertising expenditures in Asia's developed countries have declined or remained flat in the third quarter, while they have risen sharply in lesser-developed countries like Indonesia and Vietnam. Lesser-developed nations are experiencing a growth in advertising activity because their economies are doing relatively well and they are starting from a lower point.
