Trade titles find financial advisors a rich target

Article Abstract:

Trade magazines, 'Advisor's Edge' and 'Investment Executive,' have captured a fertile market composed of financial advisors. The rival magazines are both satisfied with their readership and have already developed relationships with their readers, thus, becoming less competitive with each other. The only difference between the two trade magazines is focus, 'Advisor's Edge' on improving relationships of advisors and clients while 'Investment Executive' on industry news.

A Firkin of faith

The goal of becoming the largest pub chain in North America is what the Firkin Group of Pubs is trying to achieve without creating the perception of being a large corporation. To attain this end, the firm has mainly promoted itself through sponsorship of special events, such as free trips to jazz festivals and private concerts. The firm is also carefully weighing the impact of a conventional advertising campaign for its complicated branding approach.

Telecommunications companies are beginning to recognize the profitability in small- and medium-sized businesses (SMB), which previously were less preferred than residential customers. Yankee Group analyst George Karidis predicts more aggressive campaigns being concocted by telecom firms specifically to target the SMB sector. The SMB market is estimated to be worth $2 billion to $3 billion.
