La SNCB va construire dans le port d'Anvers un nouveau terminal

Article Abstract:

The Belgian railway company SNCB will invest in a new terminal which will be installed in the Port at Anvers between the A 12 motorway and the train construction site. The terminal, which will be used for combined railroad transport, will have a capacity of between 300,000 and 420,000 units of transport. Eight 700 m railway lines will be constructed and 3 cranes will be installed. The terminal is expected to be fully operational by the end of 1999. The aim of the investment is to increase the percentage of transportation by railway from 8% today to 15% in 2005.

Article Abstract:

Two major Belgian wine and spirits importers and distributors, United Distillers Belgium and Sovedi Belgium, have merged, forming UDV Belgium. This new company, based at Zellik will have a staff of fifty people, for a turnover of BFr 2bn, and it will hold a 40% share of the whisky, vodka and gin market in Belgium. UDV Belgium will be a subsidiary of UDF, the biggest strong beverage distribution group in the world, and which is part of the British group Diageo.
