Tyco agrees to buy Mallinckrodt in $4.2 billion all-stock transaction

Tyco International Ltd. has agreed to acquire Mallinckrodt Inc. in an all-stock deal worth $4.2 billion (Euro4.46 billion). The agreement calls for Tyco to pay $47.50 in stock for each share of Mallinckrodt.

Shares of Sofamor Danek surge on Medtronic deal

Article Abstract:

Sofamor Danek Group Inc. of Memphis, TN, will be purchased by Medtronic Inc. in a proposed $3.6-billion stock deal that resulted to an increase in the share prices of Sofamor Danek Group. Sofamor Danek Group, which manufactures neurological- and spinal-surgery machines, will be paid for with shares of Medtronic's stock. The proposed acquisition of Sofamor Danek Group will enable Medtronic to boost its market position in the sector for neurosurgical equipment.
