BellSouth, KPN discuss partnering to buy E-Plus

Article Abstract:

Dutch KPN NV and BellSouth Corp. are negotiating a partnership to take control of E-Plus, Germany's No. 3 wireless operator. The joint venture blocks a takeover bid by France Telecom SA, which earlier agreed to acquire more than 75% of E-Plus for $9.3 billion. BellSouth currently owns 22.5% of E-Plus, and has a right to expand its position further through purchasing shares of other major shareholders.
