Will Yugoslavia break again?

Article Abstract:

Yugoslavia is divided, and the war against separatists in Kosovo is intensifying. Slobodan Milosevic is also involved in a dispute with Montenegro's new president, and the prime minister of the Serb Republic of Bosnia. Serbia faces economic problems which could intensify if international pressure is brought to bear over Kosovo, where Milosevic is reluctant to give in to international calls for withdrawal of the police force. The survival of Yugoslavia is threatened by the number of nemies that Milosevic faces.

What next for Slobodan Milosevic?

Article Abstract:

Yugoslav leader, Slobodan Milosevic, faced demonstrations against his rule in times of peace, but is supported by the army, the secret police, and a business network which controls much of Yugoslavia's economy. His wife is a Marxist who sees a major role for Serbia alongside India, China and Russia, in world politics. His Serbian nationalism is primitive and Serbia is seen as a victim. Milosevic is an opportunist who has been successful in terms of self-preservation.
