World Military Helicopter Inventory 1999

Article Abstract:

Rolls-Royce Inc. is building new worldwide support facilities in the UK and France for its Turbomeca RTM322 turboshaft engine. The UK facility is being constructed at the firm's Ansty factory close to Coventry, UK, while the French facility will be located in Tarmos, France. Rolls-Royce has already closed a five-year support contract for the engine with the UK Ministry of Defence while the French Defence Ministry is set to order a minimum of 320 of the RTM322 engines.

Turbomeca taken over

Article Abstract:

Turbomeca SA, the French maker of helicopter engines, could be facing some major internal changes. The changes are expected following the surprise purchase of parent Labinal Aerospace by SNECMA, the state-owned engine and equipment conglomerate, for FFr7.5 billion. The takeover of Turbomeca was achieved through the acquisition of Soportech, a private holding company that owns 49.1% of Turbomeca and has a 64.9% voting control.

Turbomeca Africa

Article Abstract:

Turbomeca SA, the French helicopter engine manufacturer, has established a subsidiary in South Africa on Dec 9, 1999. Named Turbomeca Africa, the subsidiary is headed by Jean-Francois Thomas. The subsidiary is handling a contract awarded by the South African Air Force, which made it the main supplier of Arriel 2K2 and Adour engines that will power Agusta A109 military helicopters and Hawk training aircrafts.
