Another disappointment: Slow jobs growth in June

Article Abstract:

U.S. job growth slowed drastically in June 2004, amid signs that the economic recovery could be losing steam. The Labor Department revealed that the economy added 112,000 jobs in June 2004, which was far below Wall Street forecasts, and down from a 235,000 increase in May 2003 and gains of more than 300,000 jobs in both March and April 2004.

Bush report: 2.6 million jobs to come

Article Abstract:

US President George W. Bush's economic advisors have predicted that the US economy would add 2.6 million in 2004 in the annual Economic Report of the President. It also gave credit to Bush's 2003 tax cut stating that it has propelled the economy forward into a strong recovery.

U.S. says gasoline prices are still rising

Article Abstract:

The Energy Department of United States forecasted that gasoline would peak at more than $2 a gallon by June 2004. The high gasoline prices pose a risk to the economic recovery.
