Family bike enterprise is recycled back to city

Article Abstract:

Harry Havnoonian Jr. of Drexel Hill, PA, has earned the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce's Innovative Business of the Year Award for 1998 for both selling and manufacturing bikes. Havnoonian Jr. first opened a bicycle store in 1987. Today he has three shops, two in Philadelphia and one in Media. The shops have made almost $1 million in sales for 1998.

With $2,500, most of it borrowed, Bob Danzeisen started a ski shop business in South Jersey. From 1,000 square feet in 1961, with Bob working only part-time, today's 31,000-square-foot store, Danzeisen & Quigley, is a favorite over big sports chains. There are three partners and 50 employees selling much more than just ski equipment.

Grade-school gym in N.J. bags sponsor

The tiny, blue-collar Camden County borough of Brookhaven has a new elementary-school gym which has been named after the only supermarket in town, ShopRite. The company paid $100,000 for the privilege.
