Stem-cell research flourishes

Article Abstract:

Stem-cell research flourishes at major universities, medical centers and biotechnology companies in Pennsylvania and New Jersey regardless their varied political climates. After California, New Jersey is the only state adopting the law that allows all types of stem-cell research and would become the first state to directly fund stem-cell work after spending $6.5 million for launching a $50 million Stem Cell Institute.

Hospital care in Pa. said to improve

The quality of care at hospitals in Pennsylvania has improved as suggested by the death rates in specific areas of care although the high number and cost of readmissions remain a concern. The Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council, an independent state agency examined outcomes for people with illnesses ranging from abdominal aortic aneurysms to strokes for its annual hospital performance report.

Medical lawsuits plummet in Phila.

Article Abstract:

A new legal rule, which aims at limiting the number of medical malpractices lawsuits filed in Philadelphia, is issued. This new rule has cut the caseloads and may reduce the cost of insurance.
