A faint glimmer in gold...

Article Abstract:

Insider accumulation of selected gold company shares has been observed in the investment market. Newmont Mining, a leading gold producer in North America, has gained substantial profits from selling its gold shares at a low price. Meanwhile, the huge gold reserve sales of the Australian central bank is perceived to cause an increase in central bank gold demand. Furthermore, low gold prices can pose a threat to unprofitable and less efficient mines, which may lead to their closures if the trend continues.

What can derail this market?

Article Abstract:

Investors should have a healthy regard for interest rates. It should be noted that when Germany increased its interest rates, the US Treasury found it difficult to stablilize the national debt. US interest rates should appreciate to efficiently cope with the country's deficit. The stock market also struggled in the summer 1992 because of the dollar devaluation. A dollar resurgence coupled with an interest rate hike would assist market speculations. Otherwise, caution is recommended.

A glimmer in gold

Article Abstract:

The gold stocks performed well last Feb 16, 1993 even though the stock market shed 82 points on heavy trading. Dealers agreed that the strength of the gold stocks was due to China's central bank stock purchase whenever the price of gold went below $330 per ounce. Insiders are also likely to hold on to their gold shares and buy some more at reasonable prices. Therefore, it is advisable for investors to monitor gold stocks in the coming months.
