Article Abstract:

The popular notion that the space shuttle program was a 'policy failure' resulted because NASA compromised on its original plans, in the face of weak political support and inadequate information. It was baseless since the congressional and presidential support for the shuttle has been consistent and generous. However, the need for smaller, quicker and less expensive space program should be stressed.
