Amerada Hess Corp

Article Abstract:

Frederick Leuffer, analyst for C.J. Lawrence and Company Inc, has urged investors to buy shares of Amerada Hess Corp despite the shortfall inthe oil and gas company's June qtr results. Leuffer feels that the rise to $1. 70 per thousand cubic feet in natural gas prices from under $1 in Feb 1992 could help the shares of Amerada Hess. Positive prospects in oil explorations in the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea could further bolster the forecasts forAmerada Hess. The 8 million shares of the oil and gas company pays a 60-cent dividend. Chmn Leon Hess holds 13.8% while institutions control 58%.

Coastal Corp

Article Abstract:

Analyst William Hyler lowered his 1992 and 1993 earnings projection for Coastal Corp to $1.35 and $2, respectively. The company, however, is optimistic that its 40-cent dividend is quite stable. Coastal Corp's Sep 1992 quarter performance was hampered by the recession and high crude oil prices. The firm's natural gas pipeline segment, however, posted a $101 million operating profits for the 3rd qtr 1992. Seven insiders disclosed a purchase of more than 7,000 shares last Dec 31, 1991.

Amerada Hess Corp

Article Abstract:

Analysts have conflicting views regarding New York-based Amerada Hess Corp. Bernard Picchi is optimistic about the stock because of satisfactory exploration results in the North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico and a probable $100 million savings for 1993. Picchi expects a 25% rise within the 1st qtr 1993. Michael Young, on the other hand, has low regard for Amerada because of relatively modest gasoline prices. The firm provides a 60-cent dividend on the 92 million shares.
