It is becoming increasingly common in the UK for stand-up comedians to appear in advertisements, write columns or host radio and television programmes. This trend is being fuelled by the growing need for television and radio stations to distinguish themselves from their competitors on the basis of their opinion, which is basically what stand-up comedy is. When stand-up comedians move into advertising, their opinion becomes an advertising message. It is likely that comedians will also want to begin moving into production.
