Crazy for you

Article Abstract:

The intense competition in the high-yield bonds market has made investment banks more daring in taking risks. To stimulate business activity, banks have discounted their fees, subsidized portions of bond refinancings and have even went as far as accepting pay-for-performance for their underwriting services. The combination of raised interest rates and fewer underwriting deals for the 1st qtr of 1999 resulted in the spate of concessions offered by investment banks. The consolidation of the investment and banking industries has not deterred new players from joining the fray.
