Experienced treasurers wanted

Article Abstract:

Executive search firms and employers have become discriminating in hiring finance executives. Companies emphasize experience, management abilities, leadership, broad set of treasury skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Employers with a global market also look for treasurers with international exposure, while others look for diverse market backgrounds such as publishing and multimedia. Moreover, the high educational attainment of finance officers, many of whom are holders of master's degrees, gave them reason to demand attractive compensation packages.

Chasing the bull: Wall Street is Merrillizing, which might not necessarily bode well for treasurers

Article Abstract:

High profile banking mergers are creating financial institutions at par, in terms of size, with Merrill Lynch. Mergers like the Morgan Stanley-Dean Witter-Discoverer, Salomon-Smith Barney and Goldman Sachs are being criticized by some financial planners and treasurers as transitory to leaving out small-cap and mid-cap companies from their services. Execs of these mergers maintain however, that services will likely be improved and the same level of customer relations will be maintained, if not upgraded.
