ITV companies: ratings slump hits ad income

Article Abstract:

UK private sector television broadcasting companies forming part of ITV are likely to have lower advertising revenues than expected for Nov 1995 and Dec 1995. Total income from advertising for 1995 is likely to be less than the forecast of 1.6 billion pounds sterling though it will be above the 1.5 billion pounds reported for 1994. ITV is competing against public sector TV as well as satellite TV. The price of advertising has risen as the cost per viewer increases.

TV bill turns on bid fever

Article Abstract:

Ownership rules for UK TV companies may be changed, the government has stated. This has led to a rise in the share price for smaller TV companies, though companies likely to make a bid have seen their share prices fall since there are fears that they could pay too much in a bid. Independent television is losing its share of the UK market and this could be further affected when Channel 5 starts up. Yorkshire Tyne-Tees is a possible acquisition target.
